Route 120 Roadside Cleanup
Join the Sinnemahoning Watershed Association for our annual trash cleanup day along Route 120 and help keep one of Pennsylvania’s most treasured corridors clean, healthy, and litter-free.
Keeping Our Watershed Beautiful One Mile at a Time
Every year, the Sinnemahoning Watershed Association and volunteers head out to Route 120 to clean up roadside litter before it can enter our watershed. It’s an afternoon to roll up our sleeves, come together as a community, and work to keep our community clean and beautiful. What started as a small local effort has grown into one of our most anticipated community traditions, and we want you to be part of it!
Last year, 15 volunteers collected over 40 bags of trash along the Sinnemahoning/Driftwood corridor of Route 120, removing environmental pollutants like plastics, vehicular debris, and more.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to bring anything?
No. Trash bags, reflective vests, and gloves are provided each year by PennDOT. However, if you have anything additional (grabber, etc.) that you’d like to bring with you, you may do so.
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and closed-toe shoes. While we offer reflective vests, it’s still best to wear bright, noticeable clothing under it as well. Having a poncho or rain covering on hand in case of rain is also a great idea.
What happens to the bags after I fill them?
After you fill and tie off a bag, you can leave it next to the road for a PennDOT crew to collect after.
Is this a rain-or-shine event?
Yes, in most conditions. In the case of severe weather, we’ll notify registered volunteers by email and on our social media channels.
Who can volunteer?
Everyone is welcome to volunteer. Individuals, families, groups, organizations, etc. are all welcome to attend.
Can I pick my own stretch of road to clean?
Section assignments are made at check-in based on volunteer numbers and road conditions. If you have a specific area in mind or want your group to work together, let us know when you register.
How long does the cleanup usually take?
Cleanup usually takes 1-3 hours depending on the number of volunteers and your own personal pace.
